Akron was founded on July 4, 1836, by 47 settlers seeking new lands in what was then an uncharted wilderness. 
Incorporated in 1909, Akron remains the place for residents accustomed to its amenities, excellent industrial base, businesses, and schools.  A very special home town where you can enjoy living and raising your family!
